CONTEST DETAILS: Submit your best outdoor photos for a chance to win a prize! All photos must be taken in the High Knob Region, which includes the City of Norton and Wise, Scott, and Lee counties. Contestants can submit one photo per category between July 1 and Aug. 1, 2025. Winners will be announced the week of the High Knob Outdoor Fest (Aug. 9-16, 2025) on the city's social media accounts and website. There is no cost to enter the contest. Contest sponsored by the City of Norton, High Knob Destination Center, and High Knob Outdoor Fest.

CONTEST CATEGORIES:
 

Scenic: Why do you love High Knob? Capture the region’s scenic views: Mountain vistas, landscapes, wetlands, sunrises, sunsets, nighttime photos, and other shots that capture the beauty of the region. Photos can include people, but the scenery must be the prominent feature.
 

Wildlife: Celebrate the diversity of wildlife that can be found in the High Knob Region: The furry, the scaly, and the slimy. 
 

Up Close & Personal: We often focus on the bigger picture in nature: the overlooks, waterfalls, scenic views. For this category, we challenge you to take a closer look at the finer details in nature that we often miss, whether it’s fungi, wildflowers, acorns, salamanders, or other smaller lifeforms that help make the High Knob Region a vibrant ecosystem.

Adventurous Pets: This category celebrates those adventurous pets that love to get outdoors too.

CONTEST RULES: All photo submissions must be the original work of the person submitting the photo. Photos must be taken in the High Knob Region (City of Norton and Wise, Scott, and Lee counties). You must own the rights to the photo you are submitting. Photos that a third party can control or own will not be accepted. Photo submissions cannot infringe upon the trademark, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person. By submitting photos for the contest, you also agree to allow the City of Norton, High Knob Destination Center, and High Knob Outdoor Fest to use your photos for advertising and marketing purposes.

PRIZES: First, second and third places will be awarded for each of the contest's categories.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Photo submissions should be emailed to Katie Dunn, katied@nortonva.org. Photos can also be dropped off at the High Knob Destination Center, 1147 Laurel Ave. SW, Norton, during business hours. Call (276) 679-3103 for business hours. All submissions must include the following information:

• Residence (County/Town/City)

• Phone Number

• Email Address

• Location where photo was taken

• A brief description of the photo
